Zoning regulations also place various restrictions on the use of property and the location of all improvements and additions on the property. Subdivision/Land Development
The Borough's Subdivision/Land Development Ordinance regulates the dividing of land, adjustment of property lines, and development of lots for single family, multi-family, and other uses. Plans must first be reviewed and approved by the Borough.

Sidewalks and Curbs
Repair and replacement of curbs and sidewalks are the responsibility of the abutting property owner. Specifications for replacement are available at the Borough Office.

Shade Tree Regulations
A permit is required for the planting, transplanting, or removal of any tree within the public right-of-way and clear-cutting of trees on private property. Please call the Borough Office to obtain a permit.

Pets
Pet owners are responsible for keeping their pets under control at all times, on or off private property. Pets running loose may be picked up by the Police Department or the Animal Control Officer.

Dogs must be licensed whether or not they are kept in the home. Licenses may be obtained by contacting the Allegheny County Treasurer's Office or the Police Department. Licensing assists the Police and Animal Control Officer with identification and protects your pets should they stray. Although licenses are not required for cats, cats should wear identification tags so that if they stray and are picked up by the Animal Control Officer, they may be returned to you.

Dogs and cats are not permitted to soil any property, other than that of the owner. Owners are responsible for immediately removing pet refuse from property other than their own. Irresponsible pet owners are subject to strict penalties for disregarding this law, especially in Borough parks.
